== Overview ==

Revbank is a Payment System for Hackerspaces. It allows members to keep track of how much money they gave to MuHack and deduct how much they paid in drinks and stuff.

RevBank is a lightweight payment and accounting system used by MuHack and other RevSpace locations to track member contributions, purchases, and refunds. Members scan product barcodes at the terminal located in Aula associazioni, then enter their account name or use commands such as `pay`, `withdraw`, `give`, or `split` to manage balances. The system has been operational since 2011 but is still actively maintained and tweaked.

RevBank is currently working on the muhacktotem near the main cabinet. Use barcode scanner to scan the product IDs that you are buying.

First of all, if you want to use the RevBank system you need to create an account with the open terminal on the muhacktotem pc. To do that, use the "adduser" command.
Every time you want to deposit same cash into your RevBank account, reach out the treasurer or a member of the MuHack board and use the "deposit" command.

: In the sense of "works reliably": yes, RevSpace has been using it since 2011. In the sense of "doesn't change": no, it's still being tinkered with occasionally. Efforts are made to keep the command structure consistent, as many users use the system without thinking about it.

:No, RevBank is entirely based on trust. The revbank terminal is generally near supplies and an open cash box, so it's only suitable if you can trust your visitors. You can pay in someone else's name ("Can you get me a cola?"), take money from other users, and mess up the data files. Admins are advised to make lots of backups.

There you can add a line to the text file. Note: the price of a market product is the sum of the amount going to the seller and the amount going to the space. Both components must be greater than 0.

:: RevBank intentionally has no command for this, because the primary payment terminal must always work. Recently bought AC power supply and a broken ThinkPad A31 for new LCD.

The motherboard <s>seems</s> is working with no big issues, turns out the display <s>needs</s> needed some spare parts. Now it boots into the bios, we <s>have to</s> upgraded the hardware with an IDE SSD and some extra RAM (a whopping 2Gb total).

We decided to install Windows XP Service Pack 3 as main OS. After some minor issues with the disk drive and the boot order, we were able to install the operating system. The last thing we did was installing the GPU driver to enable the 3D acceleration for retrogaming. After that, the '''THICKpad''' is full restored and capable to launch ''Donald Duck: Goin' Quackers''.

The original LCD display had a red tint, which hints at a defective lamp, and the backlight went dark shortly after powerup. On the other A31 we purchased, the backlight was not working at all, which hints at a defective inverter. Using the LCT from the new machine and the inverter from the original one, we now have a working screen.

The '''bATtlEsTatIOn''' had 512MB of PC2700 RAM and we scavenged a 140 Gb hard disk from some other laptop, but that will also be upgraded to a IDE SSD.

EDIT: We did the upgrades! Now the A31 has 2048MB of RAM and 60 GB IDE SSD, plenty of memory for this big boy.

Our goal is to make technology accessible and understandable for everyone, encouraging learning and curiosity—no strings attached.

Whether you're a beginner or already into tech, it’s a great chance to learn, have fun, and connect with others who love tech as much as you do!

The ''µhack'' initiative was born from the need for a place where enthusiasts of free culture, electronics, computer science, and everything involving technology can meet to exchange ideas, knowledge, and equipment. For this reason, we are doing our best to establish ourselves as a point of reference and meeting place where anyone can join without needing to be an expert in anything—just the right attitude is enough.

According to our [https://muhack.org/public/doc/Statuto_2018.pdf statute], µhack is a non-profit organization with the purpose of promoting the adoption, development, experimentation and study of free technologies, fostering a culture based on collaboration, research, merit and the open sharing of resources and knowledge.

In simple terms, we are tinkerers who aren’t afraid to get our hands dirty to satisfy our curiosity. We want to meet new people, work together, learn and to do so, we plan to offer courses, conferences, workshops, lab experiences, group projects and any other kind of initiative that comes to mind.

The association is mainly funded by its members through membership fees and various fundraising ideas.
